BASF Signs New Robotics Materials MoU with Fourier to Accelerate Plastics Innovation

ECHEMI 2025-08-24

BASF has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Shanghai Fourier Intelligence to jointly assess and develop advanced material solutions for robotics applications. The collaboration will focus on exploring engineering plastics, polyurethanes, and thermoplastic polyurethanes for use in robot components, while also building partnerships in technology, business, and marketing models.

This move follows BASF’s recent showcase of high-temperature nylon for robotic arms and TPU for industrial robot cables at the international plastics expo, highlighting the company’s commitment to robotics innovation. BASF previously partnered with Chinese robotics leaders, equipping collaborative robots with Elastollan® TPU, Ultramid® glass-fiber reinforced polyamides, and 3D-printed PA6, enhancing durability and flexibility.

The new agreement signals BASF’s intent to drive next-generation robotics materials, leveraging its expertise to create smarter, more robust automation solutions.
