Röhm Launches New Sulfuric Acid Plant

Röhm has successfully commissioned its new sulfuric acid plant in Worms, further strengthening its global production network.

Röhm is the only global manufacturer of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), with production sites in Europe, Asia, and North America.

In recent years, Röhm has made targeted investments to strengthen this unique position, including a significant expansion of PMMA production capacity and the construction of a state-of-the-art innovation center at the Worms plant.

Now, after only a year and a half of construction, the sulfuric acid plant is operational. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, it sets new efficiency standards and makes a significant contribution to strengthening the regional supply of MMA.

The plant replaces the previous plant, which was damaged by a fire in late 2023. Sulfuric acid is a key precursor for the production of MMA, an important building block for customers in the automotive, construction, and medical technology industries, as well as for PMMA.
