In 2020, the R&D investment of chemical raw materials and products industry will reach 79.72 billion yuan
The National Bureau of Statistics announced on the 22nd that in 2020, the country will invest 243.931 billion yuan in research and experimental development (R&D), an increase of 10.2%, continuing the double-digit growth since the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, but it is affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic. Influenced by other factors, the growth rate dropped by 2.3 percentage points from the previous year.
According to the "Statistical Communiqué on National Science and Technology Investment in 2020" jointly issued by the National Bureau of Statistics, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance, the R&D investment intensity (ratio to GDP) will reach 2.40% in 2020, an increase of 0.16 percentage points from the previous year. The rate hit an 11-year high.

National basic research funding was 146.70 billion yuan, an increase of 9.8% over the previous year; applied research funding was 275.72 billion yuan, an increase of 10.4%; experimental development funding was 2016.89 billion yuan, an increase of 10.2%. Fundamental research, applied research, and experimental development accounted for 6.0%, 11.3%, and 82.7%, respectively.
According to the main body of the activity
Research and experimental development (R&D) expenditures for various enterprises were 1,867.38 billion yuan, an increase of 10.4% over the previous year; government-owned research institutions’ expenditures were 340.88 billion yuan, an increase of 10.6%; and colleges and universities expenditures were 188.25 billion yuan, an increase of 4.8%. Enterprises, government-owned research institutions, and colleges and universities accounted for 76.6%, 14.0% and 7.7% respectively.
By industry sector
The high-tech manufacturing research and experimental development (R&D) expenditure was 464.91 billion yuan, and the investment intensity (ratio to operating income) was 2.67%, an increase of 0.26 percentage points over the previous year; the equipment manufacturing research and experimental development (R&D) expenditure was 91.03 billion yuan The investment intensity was 2.22%, an increase of 0.15 percentage points over the previous year. Among the industrial enterprises above designated size, there are 10 industry categories that have invested more than 50 billion yuan in research and experimental development (R&D) expenditures. These 10 industries account for the proportion of research and experimental development (R&D) expenditures in all industrial enterprises above designated size. It was 73.6%.

The R&D expenditure for chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing was 79.72 billion yuan, with an investment intensity of 1.25%; the R&D expenditure for petroleum, coal and other fuel processing industries was 18.96 billion yuan, with an investment intensity of 0.45%; the R&D expenditure for chemical fiber manufacturing was 13.24 billion yuan , The investment intensity is 1.66%; the R&D expenditure of the rubber and plastic products industry is 44.48 billion yuan, and the investment intensity is 1.74%.

There are 8 provinces (cities) that have invested more than 100 billion yuan in research and experimental development (R&D), namely Guangdong (347.99 billion yuan), Jiangsu (300.59 billion yuan), Beijing (232.66 billion yuan), and Zhejiang (185.99 billion yuan) ), Shandong (168.19 billion yuan), Shanghai (161.57 billion yuan), Sichuan (105.53 billion yuan) and Hubei (100.53 billion yuan). There are 7 provinces (cities) with research and experimental development (R&D) investment intensity (ratio to regional GDP) exceeding the national average, namely Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shaanxi.
