EU Commission Seeks SME Views on Conflict Minerals Regulation

The European Commission is seeking the views of SMEs on the EU conflict minerals Regulation, which was published in the EU’s Official Journal in May.
From January 2021, importers, smelters and refiners of tungsten, Tin, TANTALUM and Gold (3TG) will have to carry out mandatory due diligence checks when annual import volumes exceed set thresholds.
The Commission is planning a number of measures to support SMEs in meeting their obligations under the Regulation.
Regulatory compliance consultancy, RINA Consulting (formerly known as Edif ERA), and responsible sourcing consultancy, Estelle Levin, have prepared a survey asking the group about the help they would need and how this would be best delivered.
It is aimed at businesses that import ores, concentrates, compounds and metals into the EU.
The survey is available in five languages and runs until 30 June.
