Costs Fell, Trinseo and Ineos Rose Against The Trend
On December 3, Trinseo stated that starting from December 1, the contract and spot prices of the following products will increase:
Styron (STYRON™) GPPS raised 50 Euros/ton (approximately 359 CNY/ton);
Styron and Styron A-Tech, Styron X-Tech and C-Tech (STYRON™, STYRONA-Tech™, STYRONC-Tech™, STYRONX-Tech™) HIPS increased by 50 Euro/ton (approximately 359 CNY/ton) ;
MAGNUM™ ABS resin will be raised by EUR 40/ton (approximately RMB 287/ton);
TYRIL™ SAN resin is raised by EUR 50/ton (approximately RMB 359/ton).
At the same time, Ineos also announced the December contract price of styrene monomer in Europe, an increase of about 23 euros/ton (about 165 CNY/ton) compared to October. At the same time, the company also raised the price of PS, including GPPS An increase of 20 Euro/ton (approximately 144 CNY/ton), HIPS will need to charge an additional 120 Euro/ton surcharge (the cumulative increase is about 1060 CNY/ton). The price of ABS has also been raised relatively.
Although the two price increase notices did not increase much, the cost of ABS has decreased according to GC statistics. Although the cost of styrene and acrylonitrile increased in December, the price of butadiene has dropped by as much as hundreds of euros. But at the same time, the supply of PS and ABS in the European market is obviously insufficient, especially ABS.
As the new variants may prolong the recovery of the new crown epidemic, ABS and PS buyers may continue to face supply shortages in 2022.
