INVISTA Acquires FHR Propylene Business

ECHEMI 2022-01-17

Recently, INVISTA announced that the company has completed the acquisition of the propylene business of Flint Hills Resources (FHR). The acquisition has been effective as of January 1, 2022.

It is reported that FHR is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Koch Industries. INVISTA said the acquisition, which includes FHR's chemical production facilities in Houston and Longview, Texas, as well as the ownership of the pipelines that supply these facilities, has also vested in INVISTA. INVISTA said FHR produces polymer-grade propylene at its propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant in Houston and distributes it via pipeline to various derivative units. The plant has a propylene capacity of 658,000 tonnes/year, according to IHS Markit. Separately, FHR operates a 363,000 t/y polypropylene (PP) plant in Longview.
