Total investment of 7 billion yuan! INVISTA's 400,000-tonne-per-year adiponitrile project starts operations in China
On November 25, INVISTA's nylon chemical adiponitrile (ADN) production base was completed in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, the largest investment project in the history of INVISTA.
INVISTA's adiponitrile manufacturing site has a total investment of more than 7 billion yuan (more than US$1 billion) and an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons of adiponitrile, which can support the production of 800,000 tons of nylon 66 per year.
Adiponitrile is a key raw material for nylon 66, and INVISTA's adiponitrile production site adopts the proprietary technology of "butadiene method" to produce adiponitrile, which will effectively alleviate the previous need to import adiponitrile and support nylon 66 production with a robust local supply. At the same time, by integrating INVISTA's Asia Pacific R&D center and existing production sites for hexanediamine and nylon 66 polymers, INVISTA will develop a comprehensive manufacturing R&D capability covering application development, raw materials and high-performance polymer supply.
It is reported that since 2014, INVISTA has continued to invest more than US$2 billion in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park to deploy INVISTA's nylon 66 value chain, including: hexanediamine production base, nylon 66 polymer production base, INVISTA Asia-Pacific R&D Center put into operation in September 2022, INVISTA nylon chemical adiponitrile production base, and nylon 66 polymer production capacity enhancement plan, which has officially started.
