Project construction background

Wanhua Chemical (Fujian) Co., Ltd. plans to build a new 400,000-ton/year MDI and 250,000-ton/year TDI project. A large amount of by-product hydrogen chloride is generated during the production process of the MDI/TDI project. In terms of comprehensive utilization rate, Wanhua Fujian proposes to build a 800,000-ton/year PVC production unit, and use the by-product HCl to manufacture PVC to form the idea of comprehensive recycling of chlorine resources.

Project Overview

The PVC project with an annual output of 800,000 tons is located in the western area of Jiangyin Gangcheng Economic Zone, Jiangyin Town, Fuqing City, Fujian Province, with a total investment of 4.632 billion yuan and a total area of 183,451m², of which the first phase covers an area of 91,491m², belonging to Wanhua Fujian MDI/TDI industry important part of the garden. The project is to be constructed in two phases. The first phase and the second phase respectively build 400,000 tons/year VCM and PVC plants and supporting facilities.

The main product scale of the project is VCM 800,000 t/a, PVC 800,000 t/a, by-product 25%wt hydrochloric acid 7.52t/a, and new VCM and PVC plants are built, and EDC tank farms, VCM tank farms, refrigeration stations, low temperature Public auxiliary facilities such as warehouse, PVC packaging workshop, VCM/PVC installation substation and cabinet room.

Project construction background

In March 2020, Wanhua announced that the company and Fujian Petrochemical jointly established Wanhua Fujian, and acquired a 100,000-ton TDI plant from Southeast Electrochemical. After expanding to 250,000 tons in the future, the company's total TDI production capacity will reach 800,000 tons. In 2019, the global TDI production capacity is 3.34 million tons, of which the domestic production capacity is about 1.14 million tons. In the future, the company's production capacity will account for 1/4 of the global production capacity and more than 40% of the domestic production capacity.

Project Overview

The project is located in the western industrial area of Jiangyin Gangcheng Economic Zone, Jiangyin Town, Fuqing City, Fujian Province, covering an area of 97,000m². On February 18, 2021, the environmental impact assessment of Wanhua Fujian's expansion of 250,000 tons/year TDI project was announced for the first time. On June 15, 2021, the project environmental impact assessment information will be publicized for the second time.

Main overview of the project

Newly built dinitrotoluene (DNT) unit, toluenediamine (TDA) unit, TDI unit, -15℃ refrigerant unit, chilled water unit, energy recovery unit and supporting public works, auxiliary production facilities and environmental protection facilities in the boundary area . After the project is completed, the annual output of TDI is 250,000 tons, OTDA is 6,250 tons, dry HCl is 208,800 tons, and 32%wt hydrochloric acid is 70,425 tons. The technical level has reached the domestic advanced level.

MDI Integration Project

Wanhua Chemical (Fujian) Co., Ltd. is a joint venture established in March 2021 by Wanhua Chemical and Fujian Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd. in the western area of Jiangyin Gangcheng Economic Zone according to the shareholding ratio of 80% and 20%. The joint venture company will build 400,000 ton/year MDI and aniline supporting projects. A 400,000-ton/year MDI plant will be built in the first phase, and a 480,000-ton/year nitrobenzene and 360,000-ton/year aniline plant will be built in the second phase.

The first phase of the MDI plant has started large-scale equipment installation on August 21, 2021, which means that the first phase of the MDI project will be completed in September 2022, and it is expected to produce qualified MDI products by the end of 2022.

Wanhua Chemical (Fujian) Co., Ltd.'s large-scale coal gasification effective gas comprehensive utilization-annual output of 480,000 tons of formaldehyde project is located in the Lingang Industrial Zone in the west of Jiangyin Gangcheng Economic Zone, Fuzhou City (within the existing factory area). The project construction content and Scale: Build 2 sets of 240,000 tons/year formaldehyde (37%wt) devices and supporting facilities such as storage tanks, with an annual output of 480,000 tons of formaldehyde; at the same time, relying on Wanhua Chemical (Fujian) Isocyanate Co., Ltd. Wanhua Chemical (Fujian) Co., Ltd.'s annual production of 1.08 million tons of aniline project is located in Lingang Industrial Zone (existing factory area) in the west of Jiangyin Gangcheng Economic Zone, Fuzhou. The main construction content and production scale of the project: annual output of 1.08 million tons of aniline , 1.44 million tons of nitrobenzene and 1.08 million tons of nitric acid. The project is constructed in three phases. In the first phase, 2 sets of 360,000 tons/year nitric acid, 1 set of 480,000 tons/year nitrobenzene, and 1 set of 360,000 tons/year aniline units will be built; the second phase will build a new 480,000 tons/year unit.
