Eastman Expands Global Tertiary Amine Capacity
Growing demand has created demand for investment projects in Europe and North America.
Kingsport, Tennessee, February 3, 2022 - Eastman's Care Additives business announced the completion of major expansions of tertiary amine capacity (primarily DIMLA 1214) at its manufacturing sites in Ghent, Belgium and Perth, Florida.
The expansion in Ghent resulted in an increase in capacity, making it the largest tertiary amine unit in the world, while the expansion in Pace improved the production process.
"We are seeing a significant increase in demand for tertiary amines, in part due to structural changes in consumer habits related to the global pandemic, and we are committed to serving our customers," said Robert Ash, director of care products at Eastman. And to meet the needs of consumers around the world, I would like to thank our customers for their patience and cooperation over the past year as we execute these expansions."
Ash also thanked Eastman's engineering and manufacturing teams for safely completing these projects in an accelerated time frame during the global pandemic.
"This is an impressive achievement that illustrates Eastman's commitment to safety and our high level of engineering expertise," Ash said.
Tertiary amines bring key functions to a variety of surfactants used in household care products such as dishwashing liquids, hard surface cleaners, antibacterial wipes and sprays, and other industrial applications.
"These significant investments demonstrate Eastman's strong commitment to our home and personal care customers," Ash added. "We are one of the world's leading producers of tertiary amines and take this leadership role seriously, and we are committed to continuously improving our service levels. These expansions will greatly improve our reliability and allow us to serve a wider range of customers need."
Eastman's Care Additives business provides a variety of products and solutions for the personal and home care, pharmaceutical ingredients, food and beverage, crop protection, water treatment and specialty additives markets.
