According to the news of the National Statistical Bureau on June 18, the National Statistical Bureau released today the statistical data on the change of the sale price of commodity housing in 70 large and medium-sized cities in May 2009. In this regard, Liu Jianwei, Senior Statistician of the Urban Department of the National Bureau of Statistics, explained that the ring-to-ring price increases of newly built commercial housing and second-hand housing in the first and second-tier cities were the same or declined as last month, while that of newly built commercial housing in the third-tier cities rose slightly, and that of second-hand housing was the same as last month.

Among them, Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen rose 0.6%, 0.8% and 0.4% respectively, while Shanghai fell 0.1%. Sales prices of second-hand housing rose by 0.1% annually, down 0.3 percentage points from last month. Among them: Beijing and Shenzhen are flat, Shanghai is up 0.1%, Guangzhou is down 0.3%. In 31 second-tier cities, the sales price of newly built commercial residential buildings rose 0.8% annually, the same increase as last month; the sales price of second-hand residential buildings rose 0.5%, the increase fell 0.1 percentage points compared with last month. Sales prices of newly built commercial housing in 35 third-tier cities rose by 0.8% annually, 0.3 percentage points more than last month, while sales prices of second-hand housing rose by 0.6%, the same increase as last month. In terms of year-on-year, the sales prices of newly built commercial housing and second-hand housing in the first, second and third-tier cities increased at the same rate as last month or decreased. Preliminary estimates show that in May, sales prices of newly built commercial housing in first-tier cities rose 4.7% year-on-year, the same increase as last month; sales prices of second-hand housing rose 0.3% year-on-year, and the increase fell 0.5 percentage points compared with last month. Sales prices of newly-built commercial housing and second-hand housing in second-tier cities increased by 12.1% and 8.1% respectively over the same period last year, with the increase falling by 0.2 percentage points compared with last month. Sales prices of new commercial residential buildings in third-tier cities rose 11.3% year-on-year, the same increase as last month; sales prices of second-hand residential buildings rose 8.2% year-on-year, an increase of 0.2 percentage points lower than last month.
