China's auto industry changes lanes first
"Smart cars are disrupting functional cars. It has a greater scope of impact than smartphones disrupting functional phones, with more profound changes to the economy and society, and more obvious effects for the benefit of society."
Chen Qingtai, Chairman of the China Electric Vehicle Council of 100, said, "In this automotive revolution, China's automotive industry has changed lanes first and achieved certain first-mover effects, providing an opportunity for China to shift from a large automotive country to a strong automotive country."
On March 25-27, the 2022 China Electric Vehicle 100 Forum was held online, where representatives from relevant government departments and industry-related experts and scholars gathered to conduct in-depth discussions on "Embracing the New Stage of New Energy Vehicle Market Development".
High quality development of new energy vehicles
In 2021, global sales of new energy vehicles reached a new record high of 6.75 million units, an increase of 108% year-on-year; among them, China's new energy vehicle market continued to break through, with production and sales increasing by more than 160% year-on-year, reaching 3.52 million units.
In terms of the overall global trend, new energy vehicle ownership exceeded 15 million units. Over the last decade, the cumulative global rollout of new energy vehicles has exceeded 18 million units, while China's figure is over 9 million.
"Looking at China's new energy vehicles, the first feature seems to be that intelligence empowers electrification, and the second is that passenger car models have basically reached full coverage." Wan Gang, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, said, "At the same time, the level of vehicle technology has improved significantly.

Extensive integrated and integrated design of pure electric special platforms have reduced the cost of vehicle development and the complexity of production processes; intelligent thermal management technology has made progress and is able to support the use of new energy vehicles at -30 degrees Celsius; and the integrated development of hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles has also entered the demonstration application of commercial vehicles in multiple scenarios."
In addition, "the core technology of key components has been taken to another level. The successful development and experimentation of high nickel ternary cathode materials and silicon/carbon composite cathode materials has realized the mass production of 300Wh/kg power battery for vehicle installation; the innovation of the entire electric vehicle power electrical framework has been promoted, presenting a double enhancement of safety and efficiency; the information security protection of the whole vehicle will leap from border defense to a longitudinal defense system of active security." Wan Gang said.
Miao Wei, deputy director of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Economic Committee, also said that China is in a leading position in the world in terms of battery motors.
The energy density of power battery systems is increasing, with the energy density of ternary battery systems increasing from 143Wh/kg to 206Wh/kg and the energy density of lithium iron phosphate batteries increasing from 117Wh/kg to 167.4Wh/kg in the five years from 2017-2021. battery costs are gradually decreasing, with the cost of battery systems falling from 1.43 yuan/Wh in 2017 to By 2021, China has also formed the world's largest charging and switching network, building a "10 vertical, 10 horizontal and two ring" highway fast charging network.
