China's medical device import and export international trade is developing steadily
In the past two years, China's medical device industry has been developing rapidly, attracting attention from the international market and increasing global reliance on China's medical device supply chain. However, the global economy is still facing many uncertainties, and many countries and regions are constantly changing their medical device related regulations, and the rising costs of product registration and other costs have affected domestic medical device exports to a certain extent.

At the same time, as the demand for new coronavirus testing products remains strong in countries and regions such as Europe and the United States, many domestic enterprises have purchased or built their own automated production lines to replace some of the manual operations, increasing production capacity while reducing expenditure on labour costs and reducing reliance on manual labour.
However, with the relaxation of epidemic control in countries and regions such as Europe and the United States, it is expected that the demand for New Coronavirus testing products will face a decline, and international orders are increasingly concentrated in the hands of a few head enterprises, the industry may face an overcapacity situation, and many domestic enterprises have stepped up their overseas market layout, intensifying competition.
In addition, since the new pneumonia epidemic swept the world, many countries and regions medical device industry chain is incomplete and other shortcomings are increasingly highlighted, so they have accelerated the implementation of localization alternative policies, the international development of China's medical device industry is ushering in unprecedented challenges.
While facing the challenges, the opportunities are not to be missed. The global in vitro diagnostics industry has a positive outlook and the market space is still huge. The global in vitro diagnostic market is expected to exceed US$74.6 billion in 2022 (excluding new coronavirus testing products), the immediate testing (POCT) market will exceed US$30 billion, and the immunodiagnostic market will reach US$21.1 billion.
At present, the market share of in vitro diagnostic products is mainly occupied by enterprises in developed countries and regions such as Europe and the United States. To continue to occupy a place in the international market, domestic enterprises must abandon homogeneous low-price competition, actively grasp and layout of the niche track, with strong enterprises can also take steps in international industrial cooperation.
As the situation of the prevention and control of the Newcastle pneumonia epidemic has stabilised, various international exhibitions have resumed one after another, and the activity of international business of medical devices has gradually resumed, such as the Arab Health and Medica, which were restarted in 2021, and many domestic medical device enterprises have participated in the above Many domestic medical device companies participate in these exhibitions.
Medical devices are products with quite an exhibition effect, and the holding of offline exhibitions plays a good role in corporate image and product display.
In recent years, in vitro diagnostic enterprises have gradually become the main force of exhibitors, the implementation of overseas projects of medical equipment represented by CT and MRI has been steadily promoted, and some medical aid projects and technical cooperation projects that were stalled by the epidemic have been gradually restarted.
With the continuous development of China's medical device manufacturing industry, the industry ushered in a golden decade of development, the pace of import substitution of high-end medical device products accelerated, the determination of enterprises to develop the upstream industry increased, and the breakthrough in the research and development of core components and raw materials for high-end equipment became the core of the development strategy of many enterprises. By breaking through the core technology of products in key areas and carrying out industrial optimization and upgrading, enterprises will be able to solve the "neck" problem of high-end medical equipment and high-value consumables as soon as possible, and China's medical device industry will accelerate development in areas such as innovative technology research and development of digital medical equipment.
At present, many domestic enterprises plan to establish an international platform, based on the international market developed by the export of epidemic prevention materials, to further expand overseas market channels by setting up overseas branches or gathering domestic enterprise resources to "go to sea" in a group. Many enterprises have taken countries and regions along the "Belt and Road" as the focus of overseas market expansion, and some enterprises in niche areas with high technological threshold have chosen to cooperate with enterprises in developed countries and regions such as Europe and the United States in R&D and sales channels.
With the rapid development of China's medical device industry and the accelerated pace of enterprises "going global", China's international trade in medical devices will gradually emerge from the impact of the epidemic and continue to maintain a steady development trend.
