PetroChina's 740,000-ton Ethylene Plant Shuts Down! Or Influence INEOS, Total...
The cracker at the Lavéra refinery in France was shut down due to a leak in the seawater supply used for cooling. Operator Naphthachimie has been closing plants in an orderly manner since April 10, 2022, and the unit is now largely closed. The closure of the cracker will affect the operations of the petrochemical producer near Marseille, France, according to the company.
It is reported that on April 11, 2011, China National Petroleum Corporation acquired the shares of INEOS's oil refinery in Lavéra, France, and the two companies formed a joint venture for oil refining and product sales (excluding INEOS downstream in Grangemouth and Lavéra). petrochemical production units). The refinery and another Grangemouth refinery each have a crude oil processing capacity of approximately 210,000 barrels per day (10.5 million tons per year). Maintain INEOS' long-term business strategy. The future of the two refineries will benefit from the Grangemouth and Lavéra sites as a whole, which includes INEOS' petrochemicals business. Ineos has just over 1 million tonnes/year of ethylene capacity at Grangemouth and 740,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity at Lavéra in a 50/50 Naftachimie joint venture with Total Petrochemicals.
Ineos has a local LDPE production line and some propylene oxide production, but the LDPE production line is currently under maintenance. In addition, Total Petrochemical's local PP production line may also be affected. It is also worth noting that Kem One (formerly Arkema) also has its ethylene supply from the region, and its PVC production is also very likely to be hit hard.
