Demand for new ships in the second quarter was somewhat warmer
According to the China Shipbuilding Industry Association, China Shipbuilding Capacity Utilization Monitoring Index (CCI) was 603 points in the second quarter of 2019, up 2.2% annually compared with the first quarter, and the index rebounded from the beginning of the year. Demand for new ships picked up in the second quarter compared with the first quarter, but remained at a low level. It is expected that the international shipping market will remain active in the third quarter, the demand for new vessels will increase, the utilization of capacity of key shipbuilding enterprises will maintain a reasonable level, and the monitoring index of China's shipbuilding capacity utilization is expected to rise again.
