Global crude steel output increased by 4.9% from Jan to Jun by 925 million tons

According to the latest data from the World Steel Association, the crude steel output of 64 countries included in the World Iron and Steel Association statistics in January-June 2019 was 925 million tons, an increase of 4.9% year on year. According to the data, crude steel output in Asia was 660 million tons in January-June, an increase of 7.4% over the same period last year. The output of crude steel in EU countries was 84.7 million tons, down 2.5% year on year. In the first half of the year, crude steel production in North America was 60.1 million tons, up 1.4% year on year. The output of crude steel in CIS countries is 50.5 million tons, which is the same as that of the same period last year. In June 2019, China's crude steel output was 87.5 million tons, an increase of 10% over the previous year. India's crude steel output was 9.3 million tons, an increase of 4% year on year. Japan's crude steel output was 8.8 million tons, down 0.4% year on year. South Korea's crude steel output was 6 million tons, down 2.6% year on year. Among the EU countries, the crude steel output of Germany in June 2019 was 3.4 million tons, down 5.8% from the previous year; that of Italy was 2.1 million tons, down 2.5% from the previous year; and that of France was 1.3 million tons, up 3.4% from the previous year. Spain's crude steel output was 1.2 million tons, an increase of 2.3% year on year. In June of 2019, crude steel production in the United States was 7.3 million tons, an increase of 3.1% year on year. The output of crude steel in Brazil was 2.8 million tons, down 3.1% from the same period last year. Crude steel production in Turkey in June was 2.7 million tons, down 11% from the same period last year. Ukraine's crude steel output was 1.7 million tons, down 3% year on year.
