3. Medicinal uses

Ammonium sulphate is also made into a powder in organic chemistry use by taking a trace of its crystal form and then diluting it with water using a separatory funnel to get a uniform slurry. This is then added to a solution containing sodium nitrite and potassium chlorate. The product of this reaction is then allowed to evaporate into a white crystalline solid.

5. Hydration is yet another process that is used in organic chemistry use.

 It is the removal of water from ammonium sulphate by mixing it with an excess of alcohol in the form of ethyl alcohol or any other type at room temperature in a test tube. The process continues until the mixture turns clear after which it can then be filtered by using filter paper and dried for about 20 minutes in an oven with low heat.

6. Another organic chemistry use of ammonium sulphate is that it can be used to remove the vinegar flavour from wine by using strong ammonia and hot water.

Ammonium sulphate salt is alkaline in nature and usually highly soluble in water. It has a basic value or pH of 9 or 10. It also contains many hydroxides that are present as impurities along with potassium and sodium ions. Ammonium sulphate is also a weak acid and it does not have any halides but it does contain hydrogen and thiosulphates,hydrogen chloride, hydrogen sulphide, thiosulphates, sulfates of calcium etc in various forms depending on the manufacturer and where they were made.
