Turkey's total imports of chemical raw materials are 70 billion US dollars, and imported raw materials account for 70% of raw material demand.
In April 2022, the chemical industry exported 3.32 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 53%.

Among the top 10 chemicals exported by Turkey in the first four months of 2022, plastics and plastic products accounted for the largest proportion at 32.7%, followed by mineral oil, natural gas and oil.
China is Turkey's largest importer of raw materials, followed by Germany. Among the imported chemical products, mineral fuels, oils and distillation products occupy the first place with a quota of US$50.69 billion. Organic chemicals are the most imported chemical products from China.



In 2021, the representative chemical products imported by Turkey are polyacetals, other polyethers and epoxy resins in primary forms; polycarbonates, alkyds, polyallyl esters and other polyesters in primary forms, reaching 1.3 billion dollar magnitude.

Focusing on the paint industry, Turkey has a local production capacity of 11 million tons. The demand for solvent-based raw materials is 220KT, and the titanium dioxide is 150KT.

Likewise, the plastics industry has a production capacity of 11 million tons. China is also Turkey's largest importer. The main product application fields are packaging, toys, construction, rubber, and plastic packaging has the largest export value. Polypropylene in its primary form is consumed most locally in Turkey.
