Canada Launches Re-Evaluation of Herbicide Iodosulfuron-Methyl-Sodium

ECHEMI 2025-11-02

On 30 October 2025, Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency issued consultation document PRVD2025-10 to re-evaluate iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium and its end-use products, with a public comment period running from 30 October 2025 to 28 January 2026. The selective sulfonylurea herbicide is used to control a range of post-emergence grass and broadleaf weeds in maize cultivation. The re-evaluation forms part of Canada’s periodic review mechanism to ensure continued safety, efficacy and environmental protection for registered pest control products.
