CPI rose 3.0% year on year in September and 0.9% month on month

In September 2019, consumer prices rose by 3.0% compared with the same period last year. In September 2019, consumer prices in China rose by 3.0% compared with the same period last year. Among them, urban rose 2.8%, rural rose 3.6%, food prices rose 11.2%, non-food prices rose 1.0%, consumer prices rose 4.0%, service prices rose 1.3%. From January to September, the average consumer price of the whole country rose by 2.5% compared with the same period last year.
In September, consumer prices rose by 0.9% annually. Among them, urban rose 0.7%, rural rose 1.3%; food prices rose 3.5%, non-food prices rose 0.2%; consumer prices rose 1.5%, service prices fell 0.1%.
1. Various commodities and services prices changed year-on-year
In September, food, tobacco and alcohol prices rose 8.4% year-on-year, affecting CPI (consumer price index) by about 2.49 percentage points. Among them, livestock prices rose 46.9%, affecting CPI by about 2.03 percentage points (pork prices rose 69.3%, affecting CPI by about 1.65 percentage points); poultry prices rose 14.7%, affecting CPI by about 0.18 percentage points; egg prices rose 9.4%, affecting CPI by about 0.05 percentage points; fresh fruit prices rose 7.7%, affecting CPI by about 0.13 percentage points; aquatic products prices rose 2.9%, affecting CPI by 2.13 percentage points. The impact of CPI rose by about 0.05 percentage points; grain prices rose by 0.6%, affecting CPI rose by about 0.01 percentage points; fresh vegetable prices fell by 11.8%, affecting CPI by about 0.33 percentage points.
Prices of the other seven categories rose and fell one year over the same period. Among them, the prices of other goods and services, health care, education, culture and entertainment rose by 5.8%, 2.2% and 1.7%, while the prices of clothing, housing, daily necessities and services rose by 1.6%, 0.7% and 0.6%, respectively, while the prices of transportation and communication decreased by 2.9%.
2. Ring-to-ring changes in prices of various commodities and services
In September, food, tobacco and alcohol prices rose by 2.6%, affecting CPI by about 0.80 percentage points. Among them, livestock and meat prices rose by 15.0%, affecting CPI by about 0.81 percentage points (pork prices rose by 19.7%, affecting CPI by about 0.65 percentage points); egg prices rose by 7.7%, affecting CPI by about 0.04 percentage points; poultry prices rose by 5.9%, affecting CPI by about 0.08 percentage points; fresh fruit prices fell by 7.6%, affecting CPI by about 0.15 percentage points; fresh vegetable prices fell by 2.4%, affecting CPI. CPI dropped by about 0.06 percentage points; aquatic product prices fell by 0.2%.
The other seven categories of prices have risen one-sided and fallen one-sided from the five. Among them, the prices of other goods and services, clothing and clothing rose by 0.9% and 0.8% respectively. The prices of housing, education, culture, entertainment and health care rose by 0.1%. The prices of daily necessities and services remained unchanged. The prices of transportation and communication decreased by 0.4%.
