China's CPI in October increased by 3.8% year-on-year

In October 2019, the national consumer price rose 3.8% year on year. Among them, 3.5% in urban areas, 4.6% in rural areas, 15.5% in food prices, 0.9% in non food prices, 5.2% in consumer goods prices and 1.4% in service prices. On average, the national consumer price rose 2.6% year-on-year. In October, the national consumer price rose 0.9% month on month. Among them, cities rose by 0.8%, rural areas by 1.2%; food prices rose by 3.6%, non food prices by 0.2%; consumer goods prices rose by 1.4%, and service prices were flat. In October, the price of food, tobacco and alcohol rose 11.4% year-on-year, affecting the CPI (consumer price index) rise by about 3.37 percentage points. In food, the price of livestock meat increased by 66.8%, affecting CPI by about 2.92%, of which pork price increased by 101.3%, affecting CPI by about 2.43%; poultry meat price increased by 17.3%, affecting CPI by about 0.21%; egg price increased by 12.3%, affecting CPI by about 0.07%; aquatic product price increased by 2.7%, affecting CPI by about 0.05%; food price increased by about 0.05% The increase of 0.5% will affect the CPI increase by about 0.01 percentage points; the price of fresh vegetables will decrease by 10.2%, which will affect the CPI decrease by about 0.27 percentage points; the price of fresh fruits will decrease by 0.3%, which will affect the CPI decrease by about 0.01 percentage points.
The prices of other seven categories increased and decreased year on year. Among them, the prices of other goods and services, health care, education, culture and entertainment rose by 5.5%, 2.1% and 1.9% respectively, while the prices of clothing, daily necessities and services, and housing rose by 1.2%, 0.6% and 0.5% respectively, while the prices of transportation and communication fell by 3.5%. In October, the price of food, tobacco and alcohol rose 2.7% month on month, which affected the CPI rise by about 0.84 percentage points. In food, the price of animal meat increased by 14.7%, affecting CPI by about 0.91%, of which pork price increased by 20.1%, affecting CPI by about 0.79%; poultry price increased by 2.5%, affecting CPI by about 0.03%; fresh fruit price decreased by 5.7%, affecting CPI by about 0.10%; fresh vegetable price decreased by 1.7%, affecting CPI by about 0.04%; egg price decreased by 1.5% %, affecting CPI decrease by about 0.01 percentage points; aquatic product price decrease by 1.1%, affecting CPI decrease by about 0.02 percentage points. The prices of other seven categories were up and even on a month on month basis. Among them, the price of clothing increased by 0.3%, the price of daily necessities and services, transportation and communication, education, culture and entertainment, health care, other supplies and services increased by 0.1%; the price of housing was flat.
