Green energy accounts for 4% of global energy consumption

The second international green energy development conference was held in Yangzhong City, Jiangsu Province from October 15 to 16. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena), in 2018, the total power generation capacity of renewable energy (i.e. narrow sense green energy) will reach one third of the total installed power capacity for the first time; by 2050, renewable energy power generation can meet 80% of the global power demand, of which solar photovoltaic power generation and wind power generation will account for 52% of the total power generation capacity. From the perspective of investment, the future development potential of green energy is expected. In 2018, the global investment in renewable energy is far higher than that in fossil fuels, nuclear power and hydropower, accounting for more than 60% of the global total. Data from China's National Energy Administration show that at present, the utilization level of renewable energy in China has improved significantly. In 2018, the national renewable energy power generation reached 1.87 trillion kW · h, an increase of about 170 billion kw · h on a year-on-year basis; the renewable energy power generation accounted for about 26.7% of the total power generation, an increase of 0.2 percentage points on a year-on-year basis. The annual report points out that although the world has made progress in renewable energy utilization, energy efficiency and access to energy, it is not on the track to achieve the Paris Agreement or sustainable development goal 7. In 2018, due to the increase of fossil fuel consumption, the global energy related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are estimated to increase by 1.7%, and the global fossil fuel use subsidies are expected to increase by 11% year-on-year.
