Shanxi energy revolution should do a good job in coal

During the 2019 Taiyuan energy and low carbon development forum, Huang Qili, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering, was interviewed by China Power media. In his comments on the development path of Shanxi's energy transformation, he pointed out that in the process of energy transformation, as the leader of the national energy revolution, Shanxi should strive to reduce the quantity and improve the quality of coal utilization; reduce carbon emissions and improve the use of renewable energy. According to Huang Qili, Shanxi Province has contributed a lot of coal and electricity to China's economic development in the past 70 years. Today, in the context of modern energy system construction and energy transformation and upgrading, Shanxi has a heavy task, a heavy burden, but also a strong demonstration. "The difficulty of Shanxi's transformation lies in the fact that the proportion of coal is as high as 98%." Huang Qili proposed to speed up the construction of coal related industrial chain, including the upgrading of upstream and downstream industries of coal, the development and utilization of abandoned mines and the utilization of unconventional natural gas. Huang Qili hopes that Shanxi can help each other and share with other regions in the process of energy transformation, and achieve the energy reform goals set by the central government through the comprehensive reform pilot of energy revolution.
