BP signs renewable energy supply agreement with AWS of Amazon

ECHEMI 2019-12-13

On December 5, BP said on Wednesday it had signed an agreement with Amazon Web services (AWS) business unit of amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) to provide renewable energy for AWS facilities in Spain and Sweden. BP said it would provide more than 170 megawatts of wind and solar power to AWS data centers from 2021. BP said it expects to increase the energy supply to AWS facilities to more than 400MW in the future. According to the agreement, BP will provide energy through one of its largest offshore wind farms in Europe in its first project, which is currently under construction on the coast of Sweden. Other facilities to power the project are under construction, including a new solar farm in Spain.
