Steel industry quotation falls after the festival

ECHEMI 2020-02-14

Since February 3, the steel industry began to resume the quotation, which fell due to people's concerns about the epidemic. However, there was almost no transaction. At present, the market is still in a situation of no price or market. According to the normal post holiday rework date, February is basically the construction gap period, and the construction personnel will return as early as around January 15, and the normal start-up period of demand is as early as mid March. However, the outbreak only delayed the return period, and there is still a certain time gap between the outbreak and the scheduled mid March. Therefore, the current price decline is not entirely caused by the outbreak, but the market itself is in a period of self-regulation. After the festival, the most concerned is the inventory change. As of February 6, the national social inventory of screw steel is 8.51 million tons, an increase of 2.54 million tons compared with that before the festival, 1.98 million tons less than that at the beginning of February 2019; the social inventory of wire rod is 2.81 million tons, an increase of 1.09 million tons compared with that before the festival, 320000 tons more than that at the beginning of February 2019. Overall, the inventory pressure is not great. On the whole, the spot market is still in a standstill period. Although the prices of some merchants are declining, they are basically priced and have no market. It is expected to recover gradually after the 10th.
