Megaloblastic anemia
Megaloblastic anemia is a group of anemias caused by disorders in the synthesis of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). It is mainly caused by a lack of vitamin B12 or folic acid in the body. It can also be caused by inherited or drug-induced DNA synthesis disorders. About 95% of cases are nutritional anemias caused by a lack of folic acid or (and) vitamin B12. In the early stages, it is not uncommon to see patients with simple folic acid or vitamin B12 deficiency. Nutritional megaloblastic anemia is regional. It is more common in the northwest of my country, such as Shanxi and Shaanxi Provinces, with a prevalence of up to 5.3%. Pernicious anemia is rare in my country.
