Parapharyngeal space infection
Infection of parapharyngeal space refers to a purulent infection in the parapharyngeal space. In the early stage, it is cellulitis, which later develops into an abscess. The main clinical manifestations are redness and swelling of the lateral pharyngeal wall, protrusion of palatine tonsils, severe pain in the pharynx and neck, difficulty in swallowing, and unclear pronunciation.
