Depending on the duration of the disease and the nature of the pathological changes, it is divided into acute pharyngitis, acute simple pharyngitis, chronic pharyngitis, chronic simple pharyngitis, hypertrophic pharyngitis, atrophic pharyngitis, viral pharyngitis, streptococcal pharyngitis, and gonococcal pharyngitis.
