Progressive pigmented purpuric dermatosis
This disease is also known as Schamberg's disease and peculiar progressive pigmentary disease of the skin. This disease often occurs asymmetrically on the extensor surface of the lower leg, with patches of varying sizes and shapes consisting of petechiae ranging from pinpoints to needleheads. The cause is unknown. There are reports of familial incidence. The clinical manifestations are initially clustered, reddish petechiae or ecchymoses ranging in size from millet to needlecaps, which gradually increase in number and become densely packed into irregular orange-red or brown-red patches.
