Moles are medically called nevus cells or melanocytic nevus, which are skin manifestations caused by the increase of melanocytes in the epidermis and dermis. If the rash is higher than the skin surface, has a dome or nipple-like appearance, or has a pedicle, it is clinically called an intradermal nevus; those that are slightly higher than the skin surface are mostly mixed nevus; those that are not higher than the skin surface are junctional nevus.
