This product is a total alkaloid preparation of Rauwolfia ovata, the main component of which is reserpine. Its antihypertensive effect is similar to that of reserpine, but its effect is milder than that of reserpine. Reserpine depletes the storage of norepinephrine in the peripheral sympathetic nerve terminals, and also depletes the storage of catecholamines and 5-hydroxytryptamine in the brain, heart and other organs. The antihypertensive effect is mainly peripheral, and the peripheral vascular resistance is reduced, the heart rate is slowed down, and the cardiac output is reduced, thereby lowering blood pressure.

Reserpine.

This product is a sugar-coated tablet, which appears brown to tan after removing the sugar coating.

Used for early-stage hypertension.

Oral administration: 4-8 mg at a time (1-2 tablets at a time), 3 times a day.

Nasal congestion, limb weakness, fatigue, drowsiness, gastrointestinal disorders, Parkinson's disease, anxiety, nightmares, arrhythmia, bronchospasm, impotence, postural hypotension, etc.; occasionally fluid esteroma, edema and congestive heart failure, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, itching, rash, skin flushing, weight gain, optic atrophy, pigmented dermatitis, etc.

Precautions for children: Not clear. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: 1. This product can enter the umbilical cord blood through the placenta, causing increased respiratory secretions and nasal congestion in the fetus, so it is forbidden for pregnant women. 2. This product can enter breast milk, causing increased respiratory secretions, nasal congestion, cyanosis, hypothermia and loss of appetite in infants, so it should be forbidden for lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: The elderly and the weak should use a small amount.

1. When used with ethanol or CNS depressants, the central inhibitory effect may be aggravated. 2. When used with other antihypertensive drugs or diuretics, the antihypertensive effect is enhanced and the combination is beneficial, but the dosage must be adjusted; when used with beta-blockers, the latter may be increased. 3. When used with digitalis glycosides or quinidine, it may cause arrhythmias, which rarely occur at commonly used doses, but caution must be exercised when using large doses. 4. When used with levodopa, it may cause dopamine depletion and lead to Parkinson's disease attacks. 5. When used with indirect adrenergic mimetics such as ephedrine and amphetamine, catecholamine stores may be depleted, and the effects of adrenergic mimetics may be inhibited. 6. When used with direct adrenergic mimetics such as epinephrine, isoproterenol, norepinephrine, metaraminol, and phenylephrine, the effects of adrenergic mimetics may be prolonged. 7.
