Sultamicillin dry suspension
Function and Efficacy
After oral administration, this product is hydrolyzed into sulbactam and ampicillin by enterolactone. Ampicillin is the bactericidal component of this product, which acts on the active reproduction stage of cells and inhibits the biosynthesis of cell wall mucopeptides to achieve bactericidal effects. Sulbactam itself has a weak inhibitory effect on bacteria and is a competitive irreversible β-lactamase inhibitor. When used in combination with β-lactam antibiotics, it can achieve good synergistic effects. This product is effective against a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Positive bacteria include: Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis (including penicillin-resistant and some methicillin-resistant strains), pneumococcus, Streptococcus faecalis and other Streptococcus, etc. Negative bacteria include: Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Branhamella catarrhalis, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus mirabilis, etc. Anaerobic bacteria include Bacillus fragilis.

Indication
This product is suitable for the treatment of the following infections caused by sensitive bacteria: 1. Upper respiratory tract infections: sinusitis, otitis media, tonsillitis, etc.; 2. Lower respiratory tract infections: bronchitis, pneumonia, etc.; 3. Urinary tract infections and pyelonephritis; 4. Skin and soft tissue infections; 5. Gonorrhea.
Usage and Dosage
Oral administration: the usual dosage for adults (including the elderly) and children weighing ≥30kg is 0.375-0.750g (1-3 packs) twice a day; children: for those weighing <30kg, 50mg per kg of body weight per day, divided into two doses; regardless of adults or children, the course of treatment is generally 5-14 days, which can be extended if necessary. For any infection caused by hemolytic streptococci, the course of treatment is at least 10 days to prevent the occurrence of acute rheumatic fever or glomerulonephritis. When treating nonspecific gonorrhea, a single dose of 2.25g of this product can be taken orally, plus 1g of probenecid to prolong the serum concentration of ampicillin and sulbactam; when gonorrhea is suspected to be caused by syphilis, a dark field examination should be performed before using this product, and a serum test should be performed at least once a month for four months.
Adverse Reactions
Occasionally, 1. Gastrointestinal reactions, such as diarrhea, loose stools, nausea, abdominal pain, cramps, upper abdominal pain and vomiting; 2. Rash, itching; 3. Others, such as drowsiness, fatigue, discomfort and headache, etc. Generally, they are mild to moderate reactions and can disappear with continued medication.
Precautions
It is contraindicated for patients who are allergic to penicillins.
Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: "See [Usage and Dosage]". Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: There is no safety data for pregnant and lactating women, so pregnant and lactating women should use it with caution. Precautions for the elderly: This experiment has not been conducted and there is no reliable reference literature.
Drug Interactions
1. Probenecid can reduce the excretion of ampicillin-sulbactam from the kidneys, so when probenecid is used in combination with it, its blood concentration increases and the excretion time is prolonged. 2. When allopurinol is used in combination with ampicillin-sulbactam, the incidence of rash increases significantly, so it should be avoided in combination with allopurinol. 3. Ampicillin-sulbactam and disulfiram (acetaldehyde dehydrogenase inhibitor) should not be used in combination.
