Ribavirin Effervescent Granules

This product is a broad-spectrum antiviral drug. Its mechanism of action is mainly to inhibit inosine dehydrogenase, block the conversion of inosine-phosphate to xanthine-phosphate, thereby inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis and preventing viral replication.

The main ingredient of this product is: ribavirin.

This product is white or off-white soluble granules with sweet taste.

Suitable for viral upper respiratory tract infections and herpes virus infections of the skin.

This product should be dissolved in boiling water and taken orally. 1 Viral upper respiratory tract infection: Adults take 0.15g once, 3 times a day, for 7 consecutive days. 2 Skin herpes virus infection: Adults take 0.3g once, 3 to 4 times a day, for 7 consecutive days.

Gastrointestinal reactions such as loss of appetite, stomach discomfort, vomiting, mild diarrhea, constipation, and occasional dizziness and poor sleep may occur, and may lead to a decrease in red and white blood cells and hemoglobin.

Patients with a history of allergy to this product are contraindicated.

Precautions for children: Not clear. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Use with caution in pregnant and lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: Elderly patients are more likely to develop anemia when using ribavirin than young patients. Elderly patients often have decreased renal function, which can easily lead to accumulation. Ribavirin is not recommended for elderly patients.

This product has an antagonistic effect when used together with zidovudine because it can inhibit the conversion of zidovudine into active zidovudine phosphate.
