Appearance
Sodium p-aminosalicylate enteric-coated tablets are enteric-coated tablets that appear white or off-white after the enteric coating is removed.
Indication
It is suitable for pulmonary and extrapulmonary tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This product is only effective against mycobacteria. When used alone, Mycobacterium tuberculosis can quickly develop drug resistance to this product, so it must be used in combination with other anti-tuberculosis drugs. When streptomycin and isoniazid are used in combination with this product, it can delay the development of drug resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to the former two. This product is ineffective against atypical mycobacteria. It is mainly used as a second-line anti-tuberculosis drug.
Usage and Dosage
Adults take 4 to 6 tablets orally at a time, 16 to 24 tablets per day, 4 times a day; children take 0.2 to 0.3 g/kg per day according to body weight, divided into 3 to 4 times. The daily dose for children should not exceed 12 g.
Adverse Reactions
1. Those with a higher incidence: allergic reactions include itching, rash, drug fever, asthma, and eosinophilia. 2. Those with a lower incidence: gastric ulcer and its bleeding. Others include hematuria, proteinuria, liver damage, and granulocytopenia.
Precautions
It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to this product.
Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: Take strictly according to the dosage for children. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: 1. No special adverse reactions have been confirmed for pregnant women. The effect of combined therapy on the fetus is still unclear, but it must be selected after weighing the pros and cons. 2. Aminosalicylic acid can be excreted in breast milk, so lactating women must weigh the pros and cons before selecting. Precautions for the elderly: Not yet clear.
Drug Interactions
1. Para-aminobenzoic acid and this product have antagonistic effects, and the two should not be used together. 2. This product can enhance the effect of anticoagulants (coumarin or indandione derivatives), so the dose of oral anticoagulants should be appropriately adjusted when using para-aminosalicylic acid or after using it. 3. When used in combination with ethionamide, adverse reactions may increase. 4. The combination of probenecid or sulfinpyrazone with aminosalicylic acid can reduce the secretion of the latter from the renal tubules, leading to increased blood drug concentrations, prolonged duration, and toxic reactions. Therefore, when aminosalicylic acid is used in combination with probenecid or sulfinpyrazone or after the combination, the dose of the former should be appropriately adjusted, and the patient should be closely followed up. However, most people do not use probenecid as an auxiliary drug for aminosalicylic acid treatment. 5. Aminosalicylic acid may affect the absorption of rifampicin, resulting in a decrease in the blood concentration of rifampicin. Patients must be informed that they should be at least 6 hours apart when taking the above two drugs. 6-Aminosalicylates and vitamin B12 can affect the absorption of the latter from the gastrointestinal tract when taken together. Therefore, patients taking aminosalicylic acids may have an increased requirement for vitamin B12.
