Sodium citrate anticoagulant

This product is an anticoagulant for blood transfusion and blood storage. Calcium is an essential substance in the coagulation process, which can promote the formation of thrombin (coagulation factor III), thrombin and fibrin, and activate platelets to release coagulation factors. The citrate ions of this product form a difficult-to-dissociate soluble complex, calcium citrate, with calcium ions in the blood. This complex is easily soluble in water but not easy to dissociate, which reduces calcium ions in the blood, inhibits the coagulation process, and thus prevents blood from coagulating.

For extracorporeal anticoagulation only.

To prevent blood clotting during blood transfusion, add 10 ml of 2.5% sodium citrate solution to every 100 ml of whole blood to prevent the blood from clotting.

At normal transfusion speed, this product will not cause adverse reactions. When the transfusion speed is too fast or the transfusion volume is too large (more than 1000ml), the recipient may experience numbness of the lips, convulsions of the hands and feet, and even bleeding tendency, decreased blood pressure, ventricular fibrillation or arrest due to hypocalcemia and metabolic alkalosis.
