Physical and chemical properties	Properties: Yellow crystalline powder. Melting point 236-240 ℃ (decomposition). 1 part of the product is soluble in 4200 parts of water, 590 parts of ethanol, almost insoluble in ether and chloroform. The pH of the saturated solution is 6.0-6.5. No smell, bitter taste. The color gradient is deep in daylight. Preparation method: 5-nitrofurfural is prepared by nitration, esterification, and hydrolysis of furfural, and then condensed with amino hydrochloride to obtain furacilin. Use: The product is a nitrofuran antibacterial drug. These drugs also include furazolidone and nitrofurantoin. Furacillin is highly toxic orally and is used for surgical local or surface disinfection.
