Nature:

Physical properties: Potassium 2-acrylate homopolymer is colorless to light yellow granular or powdered solid, soluble in water and some organic solvents, such as alcohols and ketones.

Chemical properties: Potassium 2-acrylate homopolymer is a weakly alkaline substance, which can react with acid to form the corresponding salt.

Purpose:
Widely used in coatings, adhesives, textile processing, water treatment, oil field development and other fields. Its high viscosity and adhesion make it an ideal choice for thickeners and adhesives.

Preparation:
It is usually prepared by polymerization. A common preparation method is by reacting acrylic acid with alkali metal potassium to obtain the target product. The reaction can be carried out under normal pressure, and the common solvents are water or organic solvents.

Handling and Storage

Precautions for safe handling

NO open flames. Handling in a well ventilated place. Wear suitable protective clothing. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid formation of dust and aerosols. Use non-sparking tools. Prevent fire caused by electrostatic discharge steam.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Dry. Well closed. Separated from food and feedstuffs and strong oxidants. Store in an area without drain or sewer access.

Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Get medical advice/attention if you feel unwell

Skin contact: Remove/Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/shower. If skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical advice/attention.

Eye contact :Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present

Ingestion ： Get medical advice/attention if you feel unwell. Rinse mouth. Protection of first-aiders: A rescuer should wear personal protective equipment, such as rubber gloves and air tight goggles

DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS

Recycle to process, if possible. Consult your local regional authorities. You may be able to dissolve or mix material with a combustible solvent and burn in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber system. Observe all federal, state and local regulations when disposing of the substance.
