Product Description

The relative density of plant sterols is slightly higher than that of water. They are insoluble in water, acids, and alkalis, but soluble in various organic solvents, such as ether, benzene, chloroform, ethyl acetate, carbon disulfide, and petroleum ether. The physicochemical properties of plant sterols are mainly hydrophobic, but due to the hydroxyl groups in their structure, they also have hydrophilicity, so plant sterols have emulsifying properties. Plant sterols obtained by solvent crystallization are usually needle-like white crystals, while commercial products are mostly in powder or flake form. The relative molecular mass of plant sterols is approximately 386-456 Da, and they have relatively high melting points, all exceeding 100°C, with the highest reaching 215°C. They can be applied in lip products, foundations, skincare products, mascaras, hair care products (such as hair wax), silicone-free shampoos (addition amount 0.1-0.3%), body washes, and facial cleansers.
