The α form is sodium α - glucoheptonate (Sodium α - Glucoheptonate), with the scientific name D - glycero - D - guloheptonic acid, monosodium salt. It is a solid crystal, and the solid sodium glucoheptonate of our company is pure α form;

The β form is sodium β - glucoheptonate (Sodium β - Glucoheptonate), with the scientific name D - glycero - D - ido - heptonic acid, monosodium salt. It is a liquid, and the main component of the liquid sodium glucoheptonate of our company is an aqueous solution of the β form. As one of the two manufacturers of solid sodium glucoheptonate in the world and the only manufacturer of liquid sodium glucoheptonate in the world, we have a deeper understanding of sodium glucoheptonate.

Sodium glucoheptonate has a good complexing effect on a series of metal ions, such as: Ca2+, Mg2+, Fe3+, Cu2+, Mn2+, Co2+, Ni2+, etc. Especially, it has a higher complexing value for Fe3+. Generally, chelating agents such as EDTA can complex 1 metal ion with 1 molecule, while sodium glucoheptonate can complex 15 Fe3+ ions under appropriate conditions. Therefore, with the strengthening of the national environmental protection efforts, it is expected to replace many non - environmental - friendly chelating agents that are widely used nowadays, such as EDTA, DTPA, ATMP.

Water Treatment

Due to the good chelating performance of sodium glucoheptonate and no toxic and side effects, it is widely used in large - scale water treatment devices and is used for alkaline descaling in boiler condensers and heat exchangers.

Metal Surface Treatment

A. Rust Removal and Degreasing of Low - Carbon Steel

The traditional rust removal and degreasing process mainly uses treating agents with chloride formulations. Chlorides decompose when the temperature reaches 50°C, so the treatment temperature cannot be too high, which reduces the treatment efficiency. Moreover, such treating agents have disadvantages such as high toxicity, strong pollution, and extremely difficult operation and treatment.

By adopting the sodium glucoheptonate formulation, the treatment temperature is increased, and under the synergistic effect with caustic soda, the efficiency of metal surface treatment is greatly improved.

B. Electroplating and Paint Removal

After using sodium glucoheptonate produced by the above - mentioned process, it can prevent electroplating solution precipitation and make the electroplating layer more dense and bright.

Under the synergistic effect of sodium glucoheptonate and caustic soda, it can effectively remove the existing oil paint on the steel surface for re - painting.

Cleaning Industry

There are many patents for the formulations of cleaning agents using water as the cleaning medium and sodium glucoheptonate. Its function is to chelate Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions in water to improve cleaning efficiency.

A typical example: When cleaning beer and milk glass containers, alkaline cleaning agents are easy to react with Ca2+ and Mg2+ in water to form hydroxides, which adhere to the bottle walls and are very difficult to rinse clean. The formulations of traditional cleaning agents all use phosphates to chelate Ca2+ and Mg2+ in water, but this brings problems such as difficult rinsing and environmental impact.
