Suberic acid (chemical formula C₈H₁₄O₄) is a straight-chain dicarboxylic acid containing eight carbon atoms. At room temperature, it appears as a white powdery crystalline solid, with a melting point of 140-144°C. This compound can be used in the pharmaceutical field as a precursor for the active components of histone deacetylase inhibitors, and in materials science as an efficient crosslinker for polyvinyl alcohol, capable of enhancing the tensile strength of crosslinked materials by about 30%.
