To a stirred solution of (5-bromo-2-nitrophenyl) methanol (2.8 g, 12.06 mmol) in a mixture of DCM/MeCN (1:1, 100 mL) at 0 °C, CBrTo a stirred solution of To a stirred solution of (5-bromo-2-nitrophenyl)methanol (800 mg, 2.71 mmol) in MeOH, DIPEA (1.4 g, 10.85 mmol) and 27% of methanamine (1.3 g, 10.85 mmol) were added and the resulting mixture was stirred at RT for 2 h. KOH (760 mg, 13.55 mmol) in 2 mL of water was added and the resulting mixture was stirred at 60 oC for 3 h. The mixture was diluted with water and extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layer was wash with water and brine, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrate in vacuo. The residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel (PE/EA = 10:1 to 1:1) to afford the desired product (520 mg, 79% yield).To a stirred solution of (5-bromo-2-nitrophenyl) methanol (2.8 g, 12.06 mmol) in a mixture of DCM/MeCN (1:1, 100 mL) at 0 C, CBr4 (5.2 g, 15.68 mmol) and PPh3 (4.1 g, 15.68 mmol) were added and the resulting mixture was stirred at RT for 16 h. The mixture was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel (PE/EA = 50:1 to 10:1) to afford the desired product (1.1 g, 31% yield).
