Solvay expands the capacity of PPA resin
Solvay announced that the company will increase the capacity of its production base of polyphthalamide (PPA) Amodel resin in Augusta, Georgia by 15%.
It is reported that Amodel PPA is one of the most strategic products in Solvay's global materials business. As a metal replacement solution, this product has been used in the automotive industry for 30 years and plays a crucial role in this industry. Now, with the automobile industry gradually entering the era of electrification, Amodel PPA product line has gradually expanded its application scope in the fields of pure electric vehicles, electric motors, electronic power and battery technology.
Since 2013, the Solvay production base in Augusta has also made significant progress in improving sustainability. The plant's global warming potential (GWP) has been reduced by 30%. Today, 100% of the electricity used in the production base comes from renewable energy. Compared with 2018, the water consumption of the plant and the discharge of "unsustainable" waste also decreased by 15% and 30% respectively.
Brian Baleno, Marketing Director of Solvay's automotive marketing business, said that Solvay's continued investment in Amodel PPA resin confirmed the firm commitment of the company to promoting the development of the PPA market and the transition of the automotive industry to electric vehicles.
