China's NDRC Asks Energy Firms to Cut Gas to Industries by 15 mln Cubic Metres
China's state planner said on Monday it has asked the country's state energy majors, CNPC, Sinopec and CNOOC, to cut natural gas supplies to some industries, including chemical, methanol and fertiliser producers, by about 15 million cubic metres per day.
The comments come after the government reopened some coal-fired power plants and cut output from gas-fired generators, freeing up 10 million tonnes of gas to ease a fuel shortage and heating crisis across the north.
Meng Wei, spokeswoman for the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), said at a briefing on Monday that the government has coordinated with the three companies to increase supplies by increasing gas output, boosting imports and speeding up infrastructure construction.
