Master Bond launches new resin

ECHEMI 2020-04-27

Recently, Master Bond has developed a two-component epoxy system resin-EP40Med resin, which has both toughness and low tensile modulus, while still having a high lap shear strength.

This flexible epoxy resin has an elongation of 80-90%, a lap shear strength of 1,600-1,800 psi, and a low tensile modulus of 25,000-50,000 psi. It meets the requirements of the ISO 10993-5 test and is therefore considered non-cytotoxic. The compound can be used for bonding, sealing, coating and encapsulation.

EP40Med has anti-bacterial effects on gamma, EtO, chemicals and liquid disinfectants, and can be used in the manufacture and maintenance of medical equipment for disposable and reusable instruments.

EP40Med is an effective adhesive suitable for applications requiring toughness and flexibility and good structural strength. The formula can be firmly bonded with polycarbonate, acrylic, metal, ceramic and composite materials.

EP40Med is a reliable electrical insulator with a volume resistivity of more than 1012 ohm cm. The system is easy to use, with a weight or volume ratio of 1: 1, and the viscosities of components A and B are both low to medium. The working life of the mixed 100-gram batch is approximately 120-150 minutes.

The best curing schedule is overnight at room temperature, then post-curing at 150 ° F for 2-3 hours. The product can be used in spray gun dispensers and pre-mixed and frozen syringes.
