The nation's first group standard for meltblown cloth for masks is released

ECHEMI 2020-04-27

The first national standard for meltblown cloth for masks was officially released. Recently, Jiangsu Textile Industry Association released the group standard "Polypropylene Meltblown Nonwoven Fabric for Masks" (T / JSFZXH001-2020).

Learned from the Jiangsu Province Market Supervision Bureau, the standard is mainly applicable to sanitary protective mask meltblown cloth, which will be officially implemented on April 26. Meltblown cloth is the core material of the mask, and its filtering efficiency directly affects the quality of the mask.

Since the current industry standards for meltblown fabrics in China do not stipulate the standard values of filtration efficiency, air permeability filter and other indicators, the current enterprise organizations mainly produce meltblown fabrics according to the enterprise standards, the indicators are uneven, and the conversion enterprises have used The process is not well understood, and the filtration efficiency of the meltblown cloth produced is not high.

To this end, the Jiangsu Provincial Market Supervision Bureau guided the Jiangsu Provincial Fiber Inspection Bureau and drafted the first group standard in conjunction with the Nanjing Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Institute and related meltblown fabric manufacturers.

What is a group standard?

China's standards can be divided into 5 categories: national standards, industry standards, local standards, corporate standards and corporate standards.

Group standards are independently formulated and published by social groups. Its advantage is that it can quickly respond to innovations and market demands for standards. Group members adopt them in accordance with the agreement and provide voluntary adoption by the society.

Prior to this, China had two related industry standards for meltblown fabrics, namely "Spunbond / Meltblown / Spunbond (SMS) Method Nonwovens" (FZ / T 64034-2014) and "Meltblown Nonwovens" (FZ / T 64078-2019). The former is suitable for SMS products that use polypropylene as the main raw material and reinforced by hot-rolled bonding; the latter is suitable for non-woven fabrics produced by melt-blown method. The end use is not limited to masks, and the standard is only for width, mass per unit area, etc. To put forward requirements, the standard values of key indicators such as filtration efficiency and air permeability are stipulated by the supply and demand contract.

The group technical standard of "Polypropylene Meltblown Nonwoven Fabric for Mask" released this time, the main technical indicators include particulate filtering efficiency, bacterial filtering efficiency, breaking strength, quality deviation rate per unit area and appearance quality requirements.

The group standard divides products into 6 grades, KN 30, KN 60, KN 80, KN 90, KN 95, and KN 100, according to the filtration efficiency level of the product. KN means that the mask is suitable for filtering non-oily particulate matter.

In addition, in terms of the use of raw materials, the standard stipulates that it should meet the requirements of "Plastic Polypropylene (PP) Meltblown Special Materials" (GB / T 30923-2014), which limits the use of toxic and hazardous substances.
