Evonik announces capacity expansion to meetmarket demand for architectural coatings additives

   On October 19, Evonik announced that it is expanding the productioncapacity of TEGO®Phobe hydrophobic and TEGO®Viscoplus polyurethane thickenerproducts in Europe. The expansion project will be officially launched inOctober.

   The expansion will meet the growing market demand for architecturalcoatings additives," said Nadia Lenhardt, EMEA market leader fordecorative coatings in Evonik's Coatings Additives business line. Theadditional capacity in Europe contributes to increased product supply securityin the region and globally."

   Hydrophobic agents are mainly used for water repellent treatment ofexterior coatings. Silicone resin emulsions represented by TEGO®Phobe1659 caneffectively reduce the water absorption performance of the coating film;polysiloxanes represented by TEGO®Phobe1409 can impart good water beadingeffect to the coating film.

   The TEGO® Viscoplus product line includes polyurethane thickeners thatmeet all relevant customer requirements. These products are liquid,solvent-free and easily intermixed with each other due to their excellentcompatibility.
