Symrise Opens First Cosmetic Ingredients Plant in Chennai, India
Symrise has announced the opening of its first cosmetic ingredients plant in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
This state-of-the-art manufacturing plant will compound a wide range of high-quality ingredients for the Indian market. This is a key milestone in Symrise’s growth strategy in the Asia Pacific region.
The high-tech plant has a total area of 1,788 square meters. It will enable Symrise to better serve the growing Indian cosmetics market. In addition, it will consolidate the company’s position as the preferred supplier of active ingredients and botanicals as well as micro-protective ingredients to the industry.
Commenting on the successful opening of the new plant, Chung Sin Wong, Vice President, Cosmetic Ingredients, Asia Pacific, said: “I am optimistic about this new addition to the Symrise manufacturing portfolio. Chennai represents more than just a plant, it forms a blueprint for sustainable growth and strategic expansion.” This ambition is reflected in the innovative design of the multi-functional facility, which includes packaging and raw material storage capabilities in addition to advanced compounding facilities.
On September 3, 2024, Symrise held an inauguration ceremony to officially open the plant. Symrise management was present including Chung Sin Wong, Vice President, Cosmetic Ingredients, Asia Pacific, as well as Surya Lukito, Regional Director, Cosmetic Ingredients, South and Southeast Asia, and Yohanna Sander, Vice President, Micro Protection.
Looking ahead, the Chennai facility represents an important step in the company’s strategy to strengthen its global presence. It will help the company better address local market trends and improve operational efficiency. “We are united in our commitment to safety, quality, profitability and sustainability, turning challenges into opportunities and ideas into reality,” said Wong. “Together, we inspire, innovate and drive change that will shape our future.”
