Vizag Care Ingredients, a joint venture between Symrise and Virchow, expands Symrise into India
Symrise AG announces a joint venture with Virchow Group, an India-based group of pharmaceutical companies that will produce personal care ingredients, multi-functional product protection ingredients, high-performance actives and botanicals, and next-generation UV filter.
This is Symrise’s first chemicals production site outside of Europe and the Americas. This is an important milestone in the company’s history and marks the next step in Symrise’s ambition to build a resilient global value chain.
The new company will operate as Vizag Care Ingredients Private Limited. It reportedly combines Virchow's long-standing presence in the Indian market and expertise in synthetic chemistry-based manufacturing of pharmaceutical actives with Symrise's renowned portfolio of beauty ingredients. Symrise's global sales organization will carry out marketing and sales activities for the products produced by the joint venture.
Dr. Joern Andreas, President Fragrance & Care, Symrise AG said: "Through the Vizag Care Ingredients joint venture, Symrise is creating and controlling additional capacity for the fast-growing, high-value cosmetic ingredients segment. "The site will benefit from the proximity, efficiency and sustainability advantages of supplying our market-leading portfolio of cosmetic ingredients in India."
Andreas added that Virchow Group and Symrise share the same values; will produce modern ingredients in India, driving innovation, safety and efficacy; and will seek to make an impact on the local community in Visakhapatnam through continued investment and job creation.
