In June, China's chemical market was still dominated by a gradual recovery

ECHEMI 2020-06-19

In June, my country's chemical market continued its upward trend, but the inventory of terminal products was high, and there was still pressure on the market to rise unilaterally. On June 3, the business community predicted that in June my country's chemical market as a whole will continue to pick up gradually, but the road may be more tortuous, and it will be difficult to rise in the ups and downs.

At present, the global epidemic situation and the uncertainty of the import and export trade situation are very large. Both at home and abroad are actively promoting the resumption of production and production of enterprises, but the recovery of the overseas market will take time. At present, my country has continuously increased various stimulus policies to promote market recovery, but the global economic recovery has not been smooth. Despite this, my country's chemical market continued to rise steadily unilaterally in May, and the industry gradually picked up, showing an overall trend of ups and downs. First, the impact of crude oil surges is beneficial to the entire petrochemical industry, in which the phenolic ketone industry chain has performed well, and the entire industry chain has risen by 12%. Secondly, the performance of inorganic chemical products is not good, and the chlor-alkali plate, the fertilizer plate and the fluorinated chemicals are on a downward trend.

Business analysis, since the chemical market opened a unilateral downward trend in October 2019, the chemical market did not usher in an "inflection point" until April 2020. However, the market rose first and then fell in April. The overall increase was not optimistic. The chemical market showed a unilateral upward trend after the "May Day".

According to the monitoring of the business community, in May, China’s commodity price list has a total of 47 commodities that have risen in the chemical sector, of which 31 commodities have risen by more than 5%, accounting for 34.4% of the number of commodities monitored in this sector; There were 37 kinds of commodities that fell, and 16 kinds of commodities that fell more than 5%, accounting for 17.8% of the monitored commodities in this sector.

Business pointed out that in May, my country's chemical market, the overall performance of the phenolic ketone industry chain was eye-catching, and "star products" emerged endlessly, attracting the attention of the chemical market. First, affected by the new coronary pneumonia epidemic, isopropanol has risen to a record high in April. Isopropyl alcohol, as an important disinfectant product, was favored by overseas markets during the epidemic. Export orders skyrocketed. In May, isopropyl alcohol operated at a high level, up 145.45% year-on-year. Second, acetone, a raw material for isopropanol, experienced a significant increase in May due to the surge in crude oil and tight market supply. In two consecutive months, local areas rose by 150%, up 180% year-on-year, setting a six-year high. Third, under the influence of raw materials, the cost is continuously increasing, and the downward products in the entire industrial chain are showing a sharp increase. Some industries cannot digest the pressure caused by the upward cost, and there is a situation of full shutdown.
