On 28 December 2022, the Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued an order that health certificates must be attached to imported food goods. The main contents are: (1) issuing an indicative list of HS codes for food categories required by mandatory health certificates, namely "milk and dairy products", "pork and pork products" and "fish and fish products"; (2) Stakeholders are advised to verify the applicability of the above HS codes against "Milk and Milk Products and Fish Products" as specified in Food Safety and Standards (Food Standards and Food Additives) Regulation 2.1 before applying for a health certificate.
