AgBiome's fungicide Theia® is available in California, USA
AgBiome recently announced that its Theia® was approved by California regulators for use in specialty crops. This fungicide is AgBiome's second patented crop solution approved in the state. It is designed to provide strong, broad-spectrum protection against soil-borne and foliar diseases of high-value fruits and vegetables.
Theia® is a product of AgBiome's GENESIS™ platform. The discovery, sequencing, and product development of the original microbe were led by AgBiome's team. Theia® is AgBiome's first biocide licensed for use in the United States since the Howler® biocide.
Theia® blocks fungal and bacterial pathogens, activates natural crop defenses, and protects crops through multiple modes of action. The biocide, which contains the active ingredient Bacillus subtilis strain AFS032321, was approved by the EPA in June 2022 and is registered in 49 states.
Adam Burnhams, Chief Commercial Officer, AgBiome: "California growers continue to look for effective and sustainable solutions to protect their crops from diseases, and the approval of Theia® fungicide in California provides growers with a new tool to control diseases such as powdery mildew and sickle disease."
Our goal has always been to create highly effective plant protection products, and AgBiome is excited to use Theia Fungicide to help California growers provide high quality fruits and vegetables around the world," said Brooke Bissinger, AgBiome's product Manager.
